About Selborne Research
Selborne Research produces institutional-grade sector primers and valuation models for equity analysts and portfolio managers. Every product is written to the standard you'd expect from a sell-side initiation report: worked valuations with realistic assumptions, sensitivity tables calibrated to market ranges from the shared price deck, and screening frameworks you can apply to live portfolios immediately.
Who writes this?
Selborne Research is an independent educational publisher founded by Dan, an investment professional who builds valuation models across every major sector. Educational use only, not investment advice or a recommendation on any security.
What makes these different?
Most "sector guides" available online are either too surface-level to be useful or too academic to be practical. Selborne primers sit in the gap: deep enough that a portfolio manager can hand one to a new analyst and trust they'll be productive within a week, practical enough that the worked examples and screening tools get used daily.
Every primer includes at least two complete worked valuations with internally consistent assumptions, sensitivity analysis across key variables, and a quick-reference cheat sheet designed to sit on your desk. The companion Excel models let you plug in your own assumptions and run scenarios immediately.
The free research
The company research profiles on this site apply the frameworks from our primers to real public companies. They're free, substantive, and designed to show you exactly what kind of analysis the primers enable. If you find the free profiles useful, the primers go much deeper.
